#15

2015 has been a time of getting to know new people who'll either make or not make an impact in life. Starting from where I last left off, my part time workplace- TCD (The Carpenter's Daughter) is a wonderful place to meeting crazy, fun, vibrant personality people. Congrats to their new cafe- TCD Junior. ^^

Moving on, in UM, I was given the opportunity to take part in the flashmob group during MHS (orientation) week. From then on, we were given opportunity to perform such as in MITB, Convo week and also taking part in SUKMUM flashmob competition.

Within my own course- Performing Arts in Dance, I have five other coursemates- Chiw Yi, Gwen, Yi Juan, Malni and Suba. Luckily, some of our classes have international students so we are also able to learn different cultures at the same time.

Not forgetting, Sel 5, the group I was in during MHS week.

My roommates of B303- An An and Shin Ni.

English class peeps and group mates for speaking.

Taking part in a swim team by accident as one of the athlete has other matters to attend on competition day.

Meeting my angel, Jun Hao in the Chinese Community of the second college.

Some of the people from TCD.

May has been a month filled with interviews for local uni. Thus, I shall write my experiences here :)

On the 12th, I went for USM interview for Graphic Communications. I was supposed to come again tomorrow for the Design and New Media Tech course, however I was thankfully able to move it to the same day. After registration, we were located into a room with three bottle waters, a potted plant and a mini dustbin placed on top a table. We had to sketch what we saw on the table for 30 mins. Since my drawing skills were terrible, I took the majority of my time drawing it with colours when the other candidates were busy sketching theirs with pencil. After that, we wait for our turn to get called in for interview.

They called in the candidates on a first come, first served basis based on the course they wanted to interview first. In a total accumulate, I have waited nearly for 4-5 hours to be interviewed for both courses. The graphic comms interview had 3 candidate per round where else the other course was 4-5 ppl per round. Basically, they'll ask us to introduce ourselves to the fellow interviewers and have a look at our portfolios.

For Graphic Comm, the questions asked were:

  1. Why should you further your studies in this particular field when even a Form5/Standard4 kid can even do graphics by themselves?
  2. What are the aspects from the billboard that attracts you?
  3. How does graphic communication plays a role in your life?

For Design and New Media Technology:
  1. What's the difference between multimedia and new media?
  2. Named some of the famous designers. (will ask for locals)
  3. Persuade us to buy a product from you, included in the name, catchphrase and product details.
  4. Give 2 reasons why we should select you to be in our school.
For the 1st question in design, everyone was dumbfounded. Luckily, the answer I gave them was nearly there but missing out on a few points. Yay me ^.^  Thankfully all was well and I was able to get back home to prepare for my first day of work at TCD.

On the 25th, I had my interview for UM's Dance course. Funnily only 4 out of 30 applicants turn up for the interview. We had to listen to a talk by the Dean of the Faculty for an hour and we were given Q&A sessions with him. Afterwards, we did a written test for half an hour on tell us about a dance and explain your reasons of entering this course.

Interview session started off with a simple 'How are you?'. It later leads on to who introduce you to this course and tell us what did they say about it. Questions vary for each candidate regarding the portfolio certificates they bring. We had an audition where we had to prepare a 3-4min long song. The nerve wrecking part is that they also video your performance. XP Lastly to finish off the session, we had a demo class with one of the lectures there. It was a really fun experience to go to :)

I do hope everyone enjoyed their interview sessions. Good luck to all the STPMers.

Baking-cook (food) by dry heat without direct exposure to a flame, typically in an oven or on a hot surface

March 26, a day of chaos in Xun Zhen's house. It's baking day :D Anyway….baking time was a....(wait for it)...a disaster.. I think. Haha XD you know never to trust yourself to replicate the cake image in baking books. First off, we didn't actually have a hand mixer till Seow Kean which is an hour or two later. Before that, the mixer was none other than Toto and Xun's hands. Their fast speed mode was equivalent to the mixer's slow speed mode. Somehow during the process of making a sponge cake, there were two different instructions followed together with Ping's alteration of the recipe. I'm guessing this is when it all started going downhill.

I was busy in the kitchen with Boon preparing the glazed bananas to be soon made into mousse. Later, we went to set the mousse into the fridge. Soon after Toto picked up Sk from her house after her waking up at around 11 something nearing to 12.

The bater was mixed well and popped into the mini oven. Next, we tried making whipped cream,...which kinda turned out into a failure. Until we tried doing it by placing the bowl into another bowl of ice which succeeded better then the previous batch.

I have no idea how the cake for d peanut butter flavour turned into a kuih like texture...could be it's too runny due to mixing it for long, or the layer we bake it is too thin.

(Drumroll…) and for the cakes to make an appearance together with the supposedly expectations.

Reality vs expectations.
Expectation for banana mousse cake
Reality ft toto's hand to increase the cake's value
Peanut butter cake expectation

Reality

Haha XD u can see how chaotic it is. To conclude, baking is not a skill we have in this field. T.T
Anyway, this ends our first and I think last baking adventure.

Memory Jar- a bottle/jar filled with little notes of your favourite moments in life

To give myself a lil project in 2014, I decided to make my own memory jar where I write down my favourite moments in my life. Without further ado, making use of all the cut out papers I acquired back in 2013, I started writing down those moments. And finally, I decided to open it up again and read through it.

You can see the progress of reducing amount of notes which maybe due to not much activity at the end of the year or due to laziness. Have fun going through it~~

The unveiling of countless notes

Steamboat- An implement for cooking at the table consisting of an annular vessel containing cooking liquor (stock) around a circular chimney at the base of which is a source of heat. Prepared food is cooked by diners usingfondue forks, chop sticks or wire mesh baskets. Various dips are usually supplied and the stock is often consumed after all the solid food has been cooked and eaten.

5th of Dec. A day where we 6 Faraday-ians held our class party in Pn Phung's house in Puchong to commemorate the end of our exams :) It's a night filled with fun and food. Lots of food. Reaching the venue early has it's own perks. First you get to visit all the beautiful houses there. Gives you plenty of ideas on your future dream house. Secondly, you get to help teacher clean her house and prepare the food. With lots of vegetables to wash and cut.

Soon everyone arrived and it was time to dig in. Everyone chat with each other. We even ate the kimchi that our fellow lovely classmates made. Sadly, there was a lot of food left behind. We also went for a walk around the housing area and have lots of pictures.

The finale was celebrating the November and December babies birthday. Everyone had fun and we depart when the time comes. All the best to us Faradians and hope to meet up soon.

#09 and #10

Oh gosh. I have not update every month as I say I will. For the #09 and #10 post, I'll just give my story of Prom Night 2014 filled with pictures.

A night filled with fun and memories. It's one of the event of the year for SMK Seafield students, especially the graduating class of 2014. A night for glitz and glamour. This year's theme: Senja di Paris. :)

Overall, it was a great event organised by the collaboration of teachers and Lower Sixes. Job, well done :)

Let the selected few favourite pictures of mine do the talking.

With Jason (Nat's date and bf).

With Piri. This shot was epic. As we were about to take a snap with the Polaroid, a group of Form5 boys passed by, and one of them got their picture capture with him talking in his phone. His friend was kind enough to retake the shot with his own Polaroid camera. And we had picture swapping time. :D

With the lovely Carol and Ping Teng.

My prom date of the night, Yue Yang.

With Sook Sin, my idol.

With Xun Zhen, my oppa. Haha XD I don't know why we had that hand position.

With The Best Dress, Chia Yan and Yvonne

My series of Polaroid shots of the night and the ticket.

With my 老婆,Seow Kean.

With Szeto. Haha XD awkward hand positioning. Maybe I shall photoshop with crutches into the space there.
